Performers at the Markets

Performers are eligible to participate at the Thursday West Salem Farmers Market AND/OR the Salem Saturday Market

Performers are welcome to share their talent and may include, but are not limited to, specialties such as balloon artist, face painter, dancers, juggler, live theatre, etc.

We ask that performers get approval and coordinate a proposed schedule with the Executive Director at the beginning of the season or prior to performing. Electronic amplification is NOT allowed, nor is playing or singing in a loud, disruptive manner such as to impede communication between vendors and customers.Performers are expected to display signage that clearly states donations are "suggested".

Student & Other Buskers

Students (and only students) are welcome to showcase their musical talent at Salem Saturday Market (and collect tips!). Students and their parent MUST stop by the Information Booth to sign in and pickup a name badge.
  • We do not limit the number of students performing at one time, but simply ask that they are respectful of each other's space and choose a corner away from other students so that music/performance does not clash or create a disruption for guests.
  • We also ask that students rotate around the market every 30 minutes.
  • Buskers are not allowed to sell CD's or other items.
  • Electronic amplification is not allowed nor is playing or singing in a loud, disruptive manner such as to impede communication between vendors and customers.

Adult music buskers and other performers are welcome to participate in 1 of 2 Free Speech Zones designated at the market. There is only room for 1 adult busker per area so we ask that they be respectful of fellow performers and take turns. Adult buskers are also welcome to participate outside of the market area.
