Do you accept WIC/Senior Vouchers?
Yes, we do accept and process EBT cards at the Information Booth for all qualified purchases. Complete your shopping with market vendors, bring the duplicate receipt(s) to the Information Both for processing. When complete, simply take the yellow copy back to the vendor to pickup your product. 
No, we do not have an ATM available onsite. The markets takes place on leased properties (parking lot, downtown street, park, etc) and there is no power accessible. There are however, several ATMs available within a few blocks. In addition, MOST vendors accept credit cards at their booth.
Yes, qualified vendors accept WIC/Senior Vouchers. Qualified vendors will have a sign posted at their booth.
Market History 
The Salem Saturday Market was registered with the State in 1998. It operated in various places around Salem including the riverfront area and the Fairgrounds, before settling in the current location near the Capitol.
  • 1998 - Registered with the Secretary of State
  • 1998 - First Markets under the Marion Street Bridge
  • Year Unknown - Moved to Fairgrounds
  • Year Unknown - Moved to State of Oregon Yellow Lot  on Marion Street
  • 2005 - Wednesday Market Started
  • 2008 - Waller House Purchase
  • 2009 - Hospital Market Started
  • 2018 - Saturday Market celebrated 20 years!
  • 2018 -  Thursday West Salem Market Started
  • 2019 - Created dba Salem Community Markets to more effectively promote all organization markets

Salem has a rich tradition of local foods and crafts going back to the founding of the Oregon Territory. One of the first Dairies in the state was just across the river. After World War II, Salem was the largest vegetable canning facility in the Western world.
Mission and VIsion 

The mission of the members of Salem Saturday Market is:
  • to provide local growers of agricultural products, producers of prepared foods, artisans and crafters with the opportunity, sites and services to market their products directly to the consumer
  • to enhance the quality of life in the Willamette Valley by providing our community with a vibrant gathering place
  • to strengthen and encourage community support for our local economy

The Market’s selling policy is to enable a customer to buy something from the person who made or grew it. All items must be handmade, hand grown, cooked or crafted by the member.  All market vendors have products juried by a committee of their fellow vendors before becoming members and selling at the market. This ensures that only top quality foods, plants, produce and handcrafted items are sold at the Market. Vendors must comply with the requirements for licensure and inspection unique to their product. Appropriate insurance coverage is required.
